I drive by one of many empty houses in our neighborhood every day. The one pictured here is a striking visual; the beginning of a new house being "taken back" by nature.
The economy has hit our little neighborhood nestled between Jenne and Powell Butte pretty hard. Like the Happy Valley area and so many other newer neighborhood developments designed for the growing economy of several years ago.
We have two foreclosed homes close by on our street that are ill kept and reminders that nothing on this earth is forever. I am reminded of Jesus words in Matthew 6. Red letter words, like George is talking about in his new message series.
19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
What's motivating you today? Relationships that transcend time? Or possessions that the earth is just going to take back anyway?
