At Abundant Life we always want to do the best we can do. Not perfection, but excellence; offering our best to the glory of God. Yesterday our new Worship Pastor, Scott Miller, was working with Dave and Dustin, along with a buddy named Kelsey, to fine tune our sound system at Happy Valley.
Why is that so important? Well, if you can't hear the singer or speaker in the weekend service, or the instruments just sound loud and not like music, it's not offering our best. And it can be distracting from the real purpose of the weekend: to offer an experience that allows people to engage with God.
Behind the scenes, Dave and his tech teams are always working to make things better. Tweaking the sound, lights, cameras, and projection so that they are never a distraction, but rather enhance the experience.
During the week, the Creative Team meets with George to craft and fine-tune messages that are relevant, that are engaging to the unconvinced and challenging to the convinced. Dennis and Melanie design the graphic elements and the program to compliment the message series. And Scott, Dustin, and Preston select worship sets to compliment each weekend's message.
Mike and his teams make sure everything from parking, greeting, ushering, and baptisms are free from distractions as well. That people attending can experience the preparation that says "we care about what we do, and we care about you!"
Sounds like a lot going on, doesn't it? And I didn't even touch down on what's going on in Family Ministries. I'll save those for another post!
When it comes to George's heart to reach as many people as possible for Jesus Christ, we're right on target. We want people to walk in the door and see that we want to offer our best to the glory of our creator in a contagious way that people can't help but engage.
Would you do me a favor? Take time this week, to thank the team for all they do behind the scenes that makes our weekends at Abundant Life an excellent experience.
