Wow, what a great Easter weekend. We had over 5000 at church this weekend in 9 different services!
To celebrate, I'm going to go on a two week vacation starting Wednesday. I'm pretty ready, and so's Miss Cynthia. We're pooped from a busy season over the last six months or so. Our friends Bruce and Debbie have been after us for several years to join them on a cruise, and this year we'll celebrate 30 years of marriage, so forget about the budget, accept generous gifts from friends, we're going on a cruise.
These ships are huge. I'll be like a little pea bouncing around in my big floating Princess Cruise Line box. We're headed to the southern Caribbean. Cynthia and I will have plenty of time to relax, reflect, play with Bruce and Debbie, and simply celebrate our relationship. Somewhere in there we get off the boat and see some islands.
I was thinking this morning about what book I want to read during our leisure time. I had to chuckle, because what I really like to do, that I don't get time for otherwise, is reading the Bible like a book instead of a devotional. On other vacations I've read through the gospels, or through Paul's letters, just letting it be what it is; the greatest story ever told. I'll take another book, too. I'm not sure what yet.
So I'll have some hang time with God. Of course I look forward to just hanging out with Cynthia, too! I really love my wife A LOT. We serve as marriage mentors, and we love helping other couples experience the daily delight of having someone in their life they like being around.
I've started coaching couples with two words Mailan Crist, one of our Elders, taught me for a successful marriage: "Be nice." It works for lots of stuff. Try it out on someone this week.
So two weeks. I'll be totally out of touch as near as I can figure. Maybe I'll sneak off to some internet cafe or something, but maybe not. If I get really crazy, maybe I'll try to post a blog while I'm gone. If not, I'll be sure to come back with something to say.
The good news here behind the scenes is we have a great staff and team of volunteers at Abundant Life, so I can disappear for a while. I like going on vacation, but I like coming back too. I pray that for all of you, too.
Seriously, have a great trip.
'Be nice' is great.

I'm so glad to hear you are getting to take a vacation after such a busy Easter weekend. I wish Abundant Life could send all its pastors on a cruise after Easter and just have a guest speaker. You all certainly deserve it!
